the pillows Celebrate Worldwide Release of Back Catalogue with Fan-Voted Top 30 Playlist
Japanese rock band the pillows have revealed a playlist containing their top 30 tracks as voted by fans. The songs were selected entirely by fans on Twitter in celebration of more than 220 songs from the cult icons being released digitally worldwide for the first-time courtesy of London-based Japanese music specialists JPU Records.
the pillows’ recently released catalogue of singles, EPs and albums comes from the band’s time under Japan’s major label King Records, an era that catapulted them to success not only domestically, but worldwide. It is a time defined by many international fans by the pillows’ shaping the soundtrack to iconic anime franchise FLCL, leading to the band’s music being spread worldwide and partly responsible for the pillows’ Spotify page currently having 325k monthly listeners and tens of millions of streams. Fans could select their favourite track using the hashtag #thepillows30, with the original post being shared thousands of times on Twitter.
