FEMM's Latest Albums Now Available on CD for First Time
For the first time, Neo Tokyo’s sentient pop mannequins FEMM have pressed their latest two studio albums to CD ahead of the electronic duo’s European and UK tour this July.
FEMM surprised fans at the start of the year by following up their 2014 debut hit album Femm-Isation (streamed over 15 million times world wide) with not one, but two full length albums released digitally within days of each other.
The latest of the two albums is Tokyo Ex Machina. Despite the apocalyptic cover art designed by award winning cyber punk visionary Liam Wong, it features 10 tracks that explore FEMM’s energetic and kawaii electro-pop side. Lead track ‘We Got Each Other’ sees catchy and cute pop vibes supplied by Nicki Minaj and Ke$her producer Kool Kojak; ‘Outta The Clouds’ captures dreamy pop beats courtesy of K-pop production queen Woo Min Lee, plus a track featuring future pop vocalist LIZ makes this album a must for fans of unapologetic pop anthems from some of the most exciting forces in eastern and western pop right now.
Tokyo Girls Anthem, the other new album, highlights FEMM’s fierce side which was originally explored with breakout viral hit ‘Fxxk Boyz Get Money’. It includes dark pop trip ‘Mental Health’ which features guest vocals from upcoming Japanese hip hop star Yup’in, frantic electro track ‘Peach’ co-produced by PC Music and Rina Sawayama cohort Danny L Harle, plus the album’s empowering title track part-written by DaBaby / Lil Uzi Vert collaborator Star Boy amongst others.
To mark the first time Tokyo Girls Anthem and Tokyo Ex Machina have been available in a physical format, London label JPU Records has also re-issued FEMM’s debut Femm-Isation on CD, as well as EP PoW! / L.C.S. that includes tracks only available physically.
All four CDs are out now from JPU Records. FEMM’s cover album 80s / 90s J-POP REVIVAL, featuring their reimagining of classic Japanese pop hits is also available from the label on CD and cassette. Latest EP 404 Not Found, released physically exclusively on MiniDisc has sold out but is available to listen digitally.
