Sumire Uesaka’s POP TEAM EPIC Gets Remix for Rebroadcast of Hit Series
When Japanese artist and voice actress Sumire Uesaka unleashed her mega hit POP TEAM EPIC in 2018, it became her first track to be streamed millions of times overseas and it stayed in Spotify’s Viral playlist for several weeks. The track was the opening theme to the anime series of the same name, which went on to leave a massive imprint on Japanese pop culture. The Daily Dot called it “anime for the meme generation” and Comic Book Resources dubbed it “absurdly hilarious” and wrote several articles about it, including a list of gags and cultural references that international fans may have missed.
POP TEAM EPIC began being rebroadcast in Japan since October, but from the fourth episode the opening song has suddenly to changed to POP TEAM EPIC (REBROADCASTING MIX). This new version of the opening theme is available to officially download and stream now.
The original version of POP TEAM EPIC appears on Sumire Uesaka’s album No Future Vacances, released internationally on CD from JPU Records and includes romaji lyric translations within the booklet.
