BACK-ON Enter New Era with Soup-ed New Album 'Still B/O' and New Single 'Beyond sadness'
JPU Records is proud to announce the souped-up international edition of BACK-ON’s new album Still B/O, combining physical media and stream on demand video, plus new single Beyond sadness.
BACK-ON’s music has been streamed over 100,000 million times worldwide, been featured in Japan’s most iconic anime and video game soundtracks, and the pair have performed at events and festivals around the world. Still B/O promises to be their most accessible album to date with the CD release including subtitled video content, as well as lyric translations and transliterations within its 30-page booklet, allowing international fans to connect with BACK-ON closer than ever before.
Still B/O follows BACK-ON’s 15th anniversary album FLIP SOUND, which featured 15 of their most popular tracks re-recorded to fit BACK-ON’s current sound. Still B/O is their first full studio album since the anniversary release and sees guest vocals from Japanese rock and hip hop / street culture legend JESSE (RIZE / THE BONEZ), and MICRO from Nagoya hip hop group HOME MADE KAZOKU, whose music has featured in anime such as Naruto, Bleach and Eureka Seven, and MICRO himself was featured on Abingdon Boys School track ‘Lost Reason’, amongst others.
New single Beyond sadness is out today ahead of the album’s release and sees BACK-ON once again switch genres on their head. The track features aggressive nu-metal breakdowns and flows, with catchy pop vocal hooks. It follows recent singles SKY WALKER (Hyper-Tokyo disco rap), and summer skate pop-punk track WAVES, which also appear on the album.
“Not only is Still B/O a fun and exciting mixture of genres and sounds, but the included video content takes the release to a new level like nothing we’ve released before,” explains JPU Records’ founder and CEO Tom Smith. “TEEDA and KENJI03 very kindly allowed JPU Records to include the live video content from Japan’s limited-edition version of the album at no extra cost for this international edition. We wanted the release to connect with BACK-ON’s massive overseas fandom stronger than ever before by making Still B/O their most accessible album yet."
“Along with the lyric translations and transliterations included in the booklet, Still B/O also includes romaji lyric subtitles for the video content. Fans can sing along with KENJI03 and rap to TEEDA’s parts without being fluent in Japanese as they perform a number of tracks live. The video content includes three new songs as well as two classic BACK-ON tracks, with each having its own unique video projection. Now you can hear, see and sing along with an album. I’m really excited by this release and I’m very sorry for keeping the neighbours up while singing along to SKY WALKER’s live video in the early hours”
