SCANDAL's New Song 'Living in the city' out From Midnight! Music and Video Recorded from Home!
Japan's all-girl rock band SCANDAL release their first home-recorded song 'Living in the city' from midnight on 3 June 2020, in the UK, Europe and North America via JPU Records. Click here to download / stream after midnight. Its video, recorded remotely from each member's home, appears on YouTube today ahead of the release.
"I never once thought when I wrote this song that I would be releasing it in times like these," states bassist TOMOMI. "But now we have all been staying home, I feel like people can listen to it through a completely new lens."
The song was originally composed by TOMOMI during the band's writing sessions for latest album Kiss from the darkness, which peaked at number five in Japan's official Oricon Album Chart earlier this year, and released internationally in two psychical editions.
SCANDAL will also celebrate their 14th anniversary by holding a special one-night livestream on 21 August 2020. Details on how international fans can buy a ticket will be announced shortly.
TOMOMI's Comment:
This is a song about life in Tokyo. I first moved to Tokyo ten years ago. I always felt that if I ever switched off I would be consumed by loneliness in this city, but now it's finally become a place that I like to call 'home'.
I encountered most of the things that helped shaped me into the person that I am today during my time here. Once I realised that, I suddenly found myself in love with Tokyo and began work on a song to capture those feelings.
I never once thought when I wrote this song that I would be releasing it in times like these, but now we have all been staying home, I feel like people can listen to it through a completely new lens. Times like these make us realise once again how dear and precious those days when nothing happens or nothing seems to change truly are.
This is our first ever song to be recorded at home. Since the decision to release the song was made while Tokyo was under a state of emergency, we also remotely filmed its video too. I hope you enjoy watching all of us at home, as well as this song that we've recorded for you.
