Japanese pop-rock stars SCANDAL will release one of their first home-recorded songs since their 2006 formation. Entitled "Living in the city", the track will be released on 3 June 2020 in Europe, North America and the UK via JPU Records on iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music and Deezer, amongst other platforms.

The song was originally composed by bassist TOMOMI during the band's writing sessions for latest album Kiss from the darkness, which peaked at number five in Japan's official Oricon Album Chart earlier this year, and was released internationally in two psychical editions.

Tokyo's current state of emergency over COVID-19, as well "Living in the city"'s home-recorded nature, has brought a whole new meaning to the previously unreleased track, originally penned as a tribute to life in Japan's bustling capital.

A short version of "Living in the city" is available to listen to now on SCANDAL's YouTube channel ahead of release.

SCANDAL are scheduled to return to the UK, Europe and North America this September as part of the band’s latest world tour promoting Kiss from the darkness. The album has been released internationally in two physical formats; a regular CD edition with translated and transliterated lyric booklet; and a limited-edition package which includes the band’s very own magazine entitled her, available in English for the first time. The album also includes “A.M.D.K.J.”, an ending theme from popular anime GeGeGe no Kitaro.

Drummer and lyricist RINA also took over the JPU Records Playlist this week on Spotify and Apple Music with a selection of her favourite tracks from Japan, offering overseas fans a rare glimpse into the bands that inspire her.
