A collaboration 20 years in the making. Japanese rockers BACK-ON will finally release a track with the godfather of Japan’s rock / hip hop scene; JESSE (RIZE / The BONEZ), the icon responsible for naming BACK-ON two decades ago.
'Kill The Beat feat. JESSE' is out now. It sees the creative forces go back to the music that influenced them in the 90s and early 2000s, paying tribute to their roots and the music they love. Rock meets rap. English meets Japanese. True crossover mayhem crammed into 3-and-a-half-minutes.
Between them, BACK-ON and JESSE's music has been played over 100 million times on streaming and video platforms. They have also performed at festivals and events around the world, including the likes of Live 8, Live Earth and the Vans Warped Tour, as well as numerous anime conventions across the United States.
BACK-ON's bilingual MC TEEDA comments, "Finally we can collaborate with JESSE. We're really honoured. Thanks so much, brother."
JESSE adds, "I'm honoured as well. I'm 40. An old geezer, but they still look up at me. I don't look down on them. We've created music at the same eye level. That's why we could do 'Kill The Beat'. This song is everything from when we were growing up, first listening to music and making music. Rock, hip hop, reggae. Everything mixed together. This is not something new. We've been doing this a long time. And this is what we're good at. I hope you like it."
