Craft Beer Meets Japanese Folk Metal as FATHOMLESS SKYWALKER Inspire SAKEKAGURA IPA
Tokyo craft brewery Metal Master Brewing Tokyo has unveiled an IPA inspired by FATHOMLESS SKYWALKER's latest single, 'SAKEKAGURA'. The limited beer debuted at the band's triumphant first one-man show in Tokyo this month, and is available now at the brewery's heavy metal taproom in Roppongi.
Steeped in Japanese mythology and spirit, 'SAKEKAGURA'' tells the tale of the God of Alcohol as FATHOMLESS SKYWALKER raise a toast to Japan's iconic drink, sake. In tribute, the SAKEKAGURA IPA has been brewed using traditional Japanese yeast and fermentation techniques, creating a beer as distinctly Japanese as the band itself.
“It has a gentle, fruity aroma that's not overpowering,” says vocalist and chief sake maiden Chihiro. “The finish is smooth, with subtle koji- and moromi-inspired fermentation notes. We're honoured that Metal Master Brewing created a beer inspired by SAKEKAGURA. We hope everyone enjoys it and comes to celebrate sake with us at one of our shows.”
FATHOMLESS SKYWALKER's debut album 'Anthems of the Resilient' is out now on CD outside Japan from JPU Records. The band will also perform on Day 1 of JPU Records' Japan Underground in Tokyo festival this August, joining BRIDEAR, BONE DAWN and BERED. They will then celebrate the release of their brand-new single, NEBULA FLAME, with a show at Club PHASE in Tokyo's Takadanobaba district on 13 September.
