TRiDENT Unveil Emotional New Single 'Candle' Alongside International CD Release of BLUE DAWN
JPU Records is proud to announce the international release of TRiDENT's latest digital single, ‘Candle’, available across Europe and North America from 15 July 2026, alongside the first international CD release of the band's latest mini album, BLUE DAWN, available to pre-order today.
Written as the theme song for the Japanese television drama 35-sai, Ima Sara Koi toka Arienai (35: It's Impossible to Fall in Love Now), ‘Candle’ showcases a new side to one of Japan's most exciting modern rock bands. While TRiDENT have built their reputation on explosive performances, technical musicianship and hard-hitting anthems, ‘Candle’ places equal emphasis on emotional depth, capturing the hope and uncertainty that comes with learning to trust and love again.
Inspired by the lives of women navigating love, marriage, careers and the difficult choices that come with adulthood, the song takes its title from the small flame that refuses to go out. A symbol of resilience, hope and the courage to keep moving forward. Vocalist and guitarist ASAKA wrote both the lyrics and music, with an arrangement by Shota Horie, whose credits include works for LiSA and ReoNa, as well as his acclaimed Vocaloid project, kemu. Rich melodies, cinematic dynamics and ASAKA's heartfelt vocal performance create a deeply relatable love song that extends far beyond the drama it accompanies.
Alongside the new single, JPU Records is bringing TRiDENT's latest mini album, BLUE DAWN, to international audiences on CD for the first time. Marking TRiDENT's debut on a major Japanese label, the mini album balances the band's trademark energy with increasingly melodic, emotionally driven songwriting, while featuring collaborations with some of Japan's most respected rock musicians, including Nob (MY FIRST STORY), Shota Horie, Koji Hirachi and ROLLY. The five-track release also includes the band's powerful interpretation of the beloved Japanese version of ‘Country Road‘, featured in Studio Ghibli's Whisper of the Heart.
Since reforming in 2020, TRiDENT have steadily expanded their audience through relentless touring, acclaimed releases and a growing international online following. With more than 140,000 YouTube subscribers and over 26 million views on the platform, the trio have become known for combining the power of guitar, bass and drums with synths, piano and electronic elements to create a huge live sound that defies expectations of a three-piece band.
With ‘Candle’ introducing an emotionally mature new chapter and BLUE DAWN making its international CD debut, TRiDENT continue to prove why they are one of Japan's most exciting new-generation rock bands.
