Japanese twin-violin and piano unit ‘sources’ have been very busy this year. Its members have been writing and performing with several high-profile artists in Japan, including mega hits from RADWIMPS and Ayumi Hamasaki. The unit’s violinist Ryotaro Kagaya also recently composed the ending theme to KOEI TECMO’s RPG Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key, a self-cover of which has been released today digitally.
Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key’s original ending theme ‘Travelers’ was recorded by ‘suis from Yorushika’ for the game, which is available now on
PS5™ / PS4™ / Nintendo Switch™/ Steam®. This self-cover by sources is entirely instrumental but captures the beauty and power of the original in a way that will without doubt pluck on the heart strings of anyone fond of violin or piano based music.
Travelers’ is simultaneously released today with sources’ entirely new single ‘Ame Nochi Hare’ (After Rain Comes the Hare). This uplifting and upbeat track is the trio’s first new music release since their double concept album release of Ittouryoudan and Tsumugu, which tackle both sides of a famous samurai proverb.
sources are a classically trained instrumental unit consisting of two violinists and a pianist. The members were born in the same year, started playing their chosen instrument at the age of four, and met while studying at Tokyo’s acclaimed Toho Gakuen School of Music. Individually they’ve supported Japanese and Korean pop icons such as Ayumi Hamasaki, SUPER JUNIOR-YESUNG and RADWIMPS, but together they craft exhilarating instrumental pieces weaved around various ideas and exciting concepts.
‘Travelers’ and ‘Ame Nochi Hare’ are available to download and stream now.
