Sumire Uesaka Releases City-pop Track ‘Umikaze No Monologue’ Ahead of New Album
Appearing in many high-profile productions, including the iconic role of Lum in the TV anime series Uesei Yatsura, remarkable voice actress and artist Sumire Uesaka prepares for the release of fifth studio album ANTHOLOGY & DESTINY with the release of new track ‘Umikaze No Monologue’.
‘Umikaze No Monologue’ has been produced by city pop legend Tetsuji Hayashi. He was responsible for writing 1979’s ‘Mayonaka no Door’ by Miki Matsubara, which recently became a viral mega hit following the resurgence of the city pop genre (the track has over 155 million streams on Spotify alone). The bouncy, feel-good tracks that’s full of 80s charm is available now on all major digital services, and have been selected for a number of official DSP playlists, including Spotify’s ‘Anime Now’ (557k likes), Apple Music’s ‘New Music Daily’ and YouTube’s ‘RELEASED’, among others. The track’s music video has also been released, lovingly shot in 4:3 ratio, the same ratio used in TV shows from yesteryear.
The new song joins ‘Kyoutaiaika’, ‘Life is Hard DAME DINERO’ (theme to the anime The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated!) and hit song ‘EASY LOVE’ (9 million streams on Spotify, and the theme to Don’t Toy With Me Ms. Nagatoro) in being available in advance of the album’s release.
ANTHOLOGY & DESTINY will be released digitally on 26 October, followed by a CD release from JPU Records on 11 November, including an exclusive bonus booklet with lyric translations and romaji transliterations. Pre-orders direct from JPU Records will receive a limited edition puromaido digitally signed by Sumire Uesaka, featuring an exclusive photo of Sumure Uesaka.
